Books for and about Dyslexic Kids
There are two problems about reading books when you are growing up with dyslexia. Firstly books aimed at your age group are too hard to read and the content of those aimed at younger children is too simple. Secondly the child heros of the books don’t appeal. Being dyslexic brings a unique set of challengers and experiences not reflected in mainstream children’s books. To help in this area, Myomancy has rounded up a whole section of Dyslexia Kids Fiction. Fiction about children with dyslexia or aimed at dyslexics.
“This is a fantastic story that portrays a young girl who endures bullying and overcomes her learning difficulties thanks to the help of her kind-hearted teacher. The character Trisha is lovable character, who tugs at your heart with her underdog status. The story is written in clear language that is accessible to elementary aged students.”

“The book tells a story about a boy named Brian who has dyslexia but does not know it. The other children at Brian’s school make fun of him because he makes many mistakes when reading aloud and while writing on the board. He thinks of himself as being dumb. His parents believe that he is just lazy.”
My Name is Brian By Jeanne Betancourt
What a great story about 2 teenagers helping each other through a very difficult time. Funny, dramatic, thought-provoking, and wonderful! Also see the great movie of it, “The Mighty,” with Sharon Stone and Kieran Culkin. Super!”
