Four of the articles from the Tintin and Dyslexia experiments have appeared in Google.

One was created on the 3rd September and spidered by Google on the 10th. The other three were created on the 4th September and spidered on the 11th. Today is the 19th September so its taken seven days to get spidered and another eight or nine days before appearing in Google search results.

There seems no pattern to which articles have appeared. Nine articles also written on the 3rd and spidered on the 10th have not yet appeared. Hopefully these will start showing up in the index over the next couple of days. There has been notable change in the target’s position in the search results and are not showing up as a link when I do a Google search for ‘link:<website URL>’

Following on from my last past on articles and SEO I’m trying to track my success or failure in optimization.

I wrote 11 articles targeted at specific search engine keywords:

Caffeine and ADHD

The Cause of Dyslexia

ADD or ADHD

Signs of Autism in Toddlers and Infants

Is There A Cure For Dyslexia?

Dyslexia Tests

Chelation and Autism

ADD / ADHD Natural Remedies: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3

The Different Types of Dyslexia

Autism Speaks

ADD / ADHD Diet and Nutrition

The keywords for the search engine are fairly obvious. I stuck them in the title.

Myomancy was spidered by Google sometime on Sunday or Monday and all the articles are now on Google to some degree. Though some are turning up as part of the Myomancy front page rather than on their individual article pages. I’m assuming that over the next week, Google will finish indexing them or they will be picked up on the next spidering.
My position in the listings isn’t bad. For about a third of the articles I’m in the top 30. Not a spot that will pull in tons of visitors but not a bad start as SEO article writing.

SEO or Search Engine Optimization to give it its full name is a difficult task. One of the big factors in getting a good Google listing for a site is the articles, the text or the copy on your site. Writing specifically for SEO is hard work as I found out last week.

I needed to boost my traffic so I went on Overture and found a bunch of keywords that I was happy writing about. Normally when I write its on whatever topic takes my fancy and consequently a lot of the hits Myomancy receives from Google are just scatter shots. Articles where I’ve just happen to use a phrase that only gets searched on once a month but Myomancy is number one or near number one in the listings. So writing on a prescribed topic was a bit more of a challenge.

One of the areas I focused on was ADHD and the effects of diet, nutrition and supplements. Partly because ADHD advertising pays more than dyslexia and autism but also because I could interlink them. An article on ADHD and Diet can legitimately reference articles on ADHD and natural remedies and one on ADHD and caffeine.

The hardest part of writing the article is keyword density. For example, this article is about articles being optimized for search engines. In order to do well in the search engines I have to work the phrase SEO articles in as many ways as possible. This isn’t good english. An article written just for a human reader would find alternative ways of phrasing it. Referring to it as copy, text or the story. SEO would be just optimisation for or tuning for or targeting for search engines. Being forced to use the same words over and over and at the same time make the article engaging to a human is a real challenge.
